Amanda’s common-sense approach to policy is rooted in her experiences in North Florida.  She’ll never forget where she came from as she’s fighting for us in Washington, D.C.  Amanda believes government should work for everyday people, not just billionaires. That means lowering costs, protecting the promises we've made to the American people, demanding that billionaires pay their fair share, and creating more opportunity right here at home.

Lower Costs for North Florida Families

Families across North Florida are being squeezed by rising costs of groceries, housing, insurance premiums, medicine, utilities, and other everyday expenses.

In Congress, Amanda will fight to lower the cost of basic living expenses by taking on corporate price-gouging, fighting illegal tariff taxes, expanding access to affordable housing and healthcare, and investing in cheaper energy options.

Strengthen Agriculture & Make Food Affordable

North Florida's farmers, ranchers, foresters, fishers, aquaculturists, and rural counties and towns deserve a strong voice in Washington. Keeping our farmers farming strengthens our economy, protects our working lands, and keeps our domestic food supply strong—a matter of national security.

Amanda will fight for a seat on the House Agriculture Committee, champion a strong Farm Bill, support local producers, strengthen food supply chains, and fully fund nutrition programs that help one out of four families in Florida’s 2nd Congressional District to put healthy food on the table.

Cut the Cost of Healthcare for ALL Hard Working Families

No one should have to travel hours to see a doctor, deliver a baby, or receive the care they need. Too many rural North Florida communities face shortages of providers and affordable healthcare options in their area.

Amanda will fight to expand access to affordable healthcare that provides a basic standard of care to ALL Americans, protect and strengthen Medicare and Medicaid, reverse cuts that gutted rural healthcare, and use a seat on the House Agriculture Committee to bring rural development resources home to improve access to medical services across North Florida.

Stop Corruption & Protect Our Democracy

People deserve a representative who shows up, listens, and puts constituents before politics. Amanda believes Washington cannot effectively tackle the challenges facing North Florida without fixing a political system that too often rewards wealthy special interests over the people.

Amanda will fight to ban members of Congress from owning and trading individual stocks, enact practical term limits, get dark money out of politics, and increasing penalties for public officials who violate the law—because no politician is above the law.

Amanda also believes a healthy democracy encourages voter participation rather than suppresses the vote.

Amanda will fight to restore and strengthen federal voting-rights protections, protect access to vote-by-mail and early voting, support making Election Day a federal holiday, and oppose partisan and racial gerrymandering that allows politicians to choose their voters instead of voters choosing their representatives.

Amanda is also focused on protecting our privacy rights and opposes the unchecked use of Flock cameras and other surveillance technology that can track where law-abiding Americans travel without their knowledge or consent.

She will fight for strong transparency, oversight, and privacy protections to prevent new technology from creating a system of warrantless mass surveillance.

Protect Our Promises to Seniors & Veterans

Our seniors spent their lives paying into Social Security and Medicare, and our veterans put their lives on the line in service to our country. The government must keep its promises to them. With the costs of food, housing, medicine, and everyday necessities rising, those earned benefits are more important than ever.

Amanda will work to shore up Social Security by removing the cap on contributions so that everyone pays their fair share into the program. She will work to expand Medicare, and as the daughter and granddaughter of military veterans, defend the benefits our veterans earned through their service.

Invest in Education, Workers, and Opportunity

Amanda is a proud product of Florida public schools, a graduate of Florida State University, and is honored to have the support of the Florida Education Association and the Florida AFL-CIO. She believes a strong economy starts with investing in our children, having a prepared workforce, and maintaining the ability for workers to organize to call for better wages and working conditions.

Amanda will fight for strong federal investments in public schools, teachers, and education professionals, including expanding access to Head Start and early childhood education along with investing in workforce and technical training programs. She supports smart student loan forgiveness for those who have paid more in interest than the entirety of their loan and for those in key professions like teachers and nurses—making sure that such forgiveness doesn’t result in a bailout to the same banks that perpetrated predatory practices. She will always stand up for working families and their right to organize, standing with union members against corporate interests.

Protect North Florida’s Land, Water, and Way of Life

Protecting our environment means protecting the North Florida way of life and the industries that depend on it—from agriculture and forestry to fisheries, aquaculture, and tourism. We need our water, our forests, our working lands, and our coastlines to remain healthy for generations to come.

Amanda will fight to protect North Florida’s waters, forests, public lands, and coastlines from pollution and irresponsible development while supporting conservation, keeping working lands working so they aren’t sold to developers, and opposing offshore drilling off Florida’s coasts.

Amanda also understands that protecting our communities means preparing for the natural disasters we know will come.

Amanda will fight to fully fund and reform FEMA, improve coordination among federal, state, and local emergency-response agencies, and use her background in emergency management from her studies at Florida State so that North Florida communities get quicker assistance to prepare, recover, and rebuild after disasters.

Amanda opposes the unchecked expansion of massive data centers that put North Florida’s water, energy grid, and rural communities at risk. These facilities can consume enormous amounts of water and electricity, while leaving local families to worry about higher utility costs and the long-term impact on our natural resources.

Amanda believes any businesses operating in North Florida must be good neighbors, and will fight to protect our communities from data center development that threatens our natural resources and the livelihoods of residents.

Build Stronger Rural Communities

North Florida’s rural communities deserve the same access to opportunity, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic investment as anywhere else in America. Too often, our communities send taxpayer dollars to Washington only to see Florida officials leave them on the table to score political points.

With a seat on the House Agriculture Committee that oversees the USDA’s rural development programs, Amanda will fight to bring our federal tax dollars back home by investing in rural housing, broadband, healthcare, utilities, infrastructure, workforce development, and disaster resilience while protecting the working lands and character that make North Florida special.
